Happy New Year! If your child was born in 2017, remember to apply to kindergarten by January 18, 2022. There is a kindergarten seat for every child in New York City, and submitting an application by the deadline is your best chance to get an offer to a school you want.
Already submitted your kindergarten application? That’s great! No further action is needed.
If you haven’t applied yet, here’s what to do:
Create a MySchools account. It’s easy! All you need to get started is an email address and some basic information about your child. You’ll use MySchools to explore schools, build your child’s application, apply, and later get their kindergarten offer.
Find schools. Log in to MySchools.nyc to explore your options, find out if you have a zoned school, and learn about other schools your child has a priority to attend. Watch our Tips for a Good Application video to learn more.
Add up to 12 programs to your child's application. Place them in your true order of preference, with your favorite choice as #1.
Apply one of three ways by the January 18 deadline:
Online with MySchools––Recommended! Don't forget to click the "Submit Application" button ––when you see the confetti, you’ll know we’ve received your application.
By phone at 718-935-2009 between 8am and 6pm.
By email or in person at a Family Welcome Center.
