IB at PS 84
PS 84 is a Candidate School for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and is currently pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that PS 84 believes is important for our students.
Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For further information about the IB and its programs, visit www.ibo.org.
* Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP).

Program of Inquiry
Each grade level designs a program of inquiry that aligns with the six International Baccalaureate transdisciplinary themes:
-
Who We Are
-
How We Express Ourselves
-
Where We Are in Place and Time
-
Sharing the Planet
-
How the World Works
-
How We Organize Ourselves
Students engage in these concept-based units of study, integrating reading, writing, social studies, and science standards appropriate for each grade. They participate in transdisciplinary learning that encourages them to take action within the school, at home, in the community, and globally.
