Student-Led Conferences are Coming!

October 24, 2019

October 24, 2019

Dear Parents/Guardians,

On Thursday, November 14, we will host Student-Led Progress Conferences, (aka Parent/Teacher Conferences).  Afternoon sessions are between 12:40 PM – 2:40 PM and evening sessions are between 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM.  Please schedule your individual conference directly with your child’s teacher/s.

All students in grades K – 5 must attend their conferences.  These conferences are a time for students to share their learning with their parents.  During this time, your child will be the main facilitator, leading you through a discussion of his/her work including established academic and social goals.  Having your child lead his/her conference is a way to maximize ownership of learning.  The involvement of the student in the conferencing process promotes three elements essential to improving student performance in school:

  • Relevance; why students are learning what we are teaching

  • Responsibility; making the student more responsible for learning

  • Reporting to parents how students are progressing in learning

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that November 14 is a half day, and we will dismiss ALL students at 11:40 AM.

Thank you for your involvement and support.  We look forward to seeing you at your child’s conference!
