Lead Paint Results

August 4, 2019

Early last month (July 2019), PS 84's primary grade classrooms were tested for lead-based paint and visible deterioration.  It is our understanding that one of our classes (room 112) tested positive for lead on a small area of the wall. We believe that the children of that classroom were never at risk and that the exposure was as a result of packing up the class (removing poster charts from the walls) at the end of the year.  The New York City Department of Education, through its Division of School Facilities, has taken steps to restore the classroom and ensure that there is no potential exposure for this upcoming September.  For more information, please read the attached document.
