A healthy resolution for young Lions!

January 8, 2019

Dear PS 84 Family,

Happy New Year to all!

As we find ourselves starting the New Year, it is most appropriate to set some new goals.

Starting this month, PS 84 is taking formal strides to get all our students in the practice of respecting and taking care of not only their minds, but their bodies as well.

Mr. Arnold and Mr. Steier have set in motion a multi-step plan to promote health and wellness. Beginning with communicating every month via a healthy/nutrition newsletter, the goal is to make sure that all students are provided with the support needed to make smart choices.

Students are now more than ever encouraged daily during PE classes, as well as in their classrooms, to stick to respecting their bodies. All children are motivated to form healthy eating habits and make a pledge to engage in physical activity every day.

Our school plan is serious. Each class is working to achieve weekly movement goals to ensure that all students receive their recommended hours of physical activity. Students participate in Move to Improve activities in the classroom in between learning different academic subjects.

With the combination of Move to Improve, PS 84 before school and after-school movement programs, after-school basketball team, physical education classes, and our school newsletter, we are certainly off to a fit and healthy start to the year 2019!

With warmest regards,

Dr. Evelyn J. Lolis
