Dear PS 84 Community,

I hope this email finds everyone safe and enjoying summer.

During these past several weeks, it is important for you to know that PS 84 continues to work behind the scenes. There have been multiple weekly virtual meetings among administrators, parents, and with our School Leadership Team (SLT). Members of our staff have continued to engage in professional development, and administration is doing its best to...

Dear PS84 Family,

I hope this email finds everyone safe and enjoying their summer!

I'm sending this email to help keep all up to date on the latest information regarding schooling come September. There are two items that require your immediate attention.

  1. There is a message today from the DOE regarding an important family and student information session that is happening this evening at 6:30PM. Anyone wishing to attend must re...

Dear PS84 Families,

It’s amazing for me to write these words, but here we are –the last day of the 2019-2020 school year! We made it! Not only did we make it, but I am so proud that our community came through the pandemic crisis, stepped up to successfully accomplish effective remote learning, and even make sure to celebrate our students that are moving up to higher grades (Pre-K and K) or moving on to middle school. This week’...

Dear PS84 Family,

These last days will be written in the annals of history as a turning point for our nation. In these most difficult times, now more than ever, we must come together and support one another. We must cling to the hope that this country will heal and come out more enlightened and stronger.

I do believe PS84 will come out of these days of crisis stronger and better prepared to face future challenges. And, I believ...

Dear PS84 Families,

PS 84 understands that COVID-19 has impacted all of our families.

As a result, the rate at which students are able to engage in remote learning, in and of itself, is not being used as a factor in grade calculations because of the impact of COVID-19 on each individual student’s circumstances.

In alignment with the Chancellor’s Grading Policy for Remote Learning,
PS84’s Grading Policy has been amended to accoun...

Dear PS84 Parents/Guardians,

During the COVID-19 pandemic, home is school for most of our students, and families are playing the role of administrators, educators, facilitators, and coaches for student learning. The upcoming Parent Teacher Conference (PTC) is an important opportunity for teachers to hear from you about how your child is doing and how remote learning supports are working for him/her. These past weeks have been a...

Dear PS84 Family,

As most of you have already heard, the Mayor has determined that all NYC Public Schools will remain closed for the rest of the school year, and that our children will continue to engage in remote school learning.

As a strong school community, we will get through this unprecedented crisis and make sure that PS84 students will continue to receive a comprehensive rigorous education as indicated by our school visio...

April 3, 2020

Dear PS 84 Families,

We hope that each of you are safe and healthy, and in good spirits!

As you may have recently learned, Governor Andrew Cuomo has canceled Spring Break for all New York State public schools.  We must plan and be fully prepared for the duration of the school year. Our teachers will need to collaborate for planning units of study in scope and sequence and work on the various means of instruction. Th...

Dear All,

With all this remote learning, it is critical that everyone takes the time to just sit down and read. It's something that doesn't come easy in our modern world of internet and fast-paced stimuli.

We really need to teach our children what reading "looks" like so they can build reading stamina.

Please look at the video series offered for free below.

They are an investment of time that will have a long term pay-off.
