Dear Lion Parents/Guardians,

It is that time of year again!

Each year, PS 84 students, and teachers in classes throughout the grades celebrate the season of thanksgiving, through song, craft making, and lots and lots of FOOD!

On Wednesday, November 27, in keeping with our school tradition, all classrooms will partake in a community Thanksgiving Feast.  Student desks will line the corridors outside of the classrooms, where the ch...

Dear PS 84 Family,

Happy New Year to all!

As we find ourselves starting the New Year, it is most appropriate to set some new goals.

Starting this month, PS 84 is taking formal strides to get all our students in the practice of respecting and taking care of not only their minds, but their bodies as well.

Mr. Arnold and Mr. Steier have set in motion a multi-step plan to promote health and wellness. Beginning with communicating every...

Dear PS 84 Community,

Lateness for all grades has become a serious issue at school during morning arrivals.

In order to help mitigate this, the school has deemed it necessary to remind parents that children Pre –k through 5th Grade should begin arriving at school at 8:10 AM.

Arrival procedures will remain the same.

Upon entering our building, all Pre-K students must be brought directly to their classrooms.

Kindergarten, First, and...

As the final week brings this school year to an end, I think of this past year and smile. What a year it has been! We kicked off the start of the year with a visit from the first lady of France, Brigitte Macron. The year just got more and more amazing from there! For the first time in PS 84 history, we had yearlong inter-disciplinary initiatives on every grade level, Pre-K to Grade 5!

Walking into school today, all around me were smiles, high-fives of celebration, and talk of how wonderful PS 84's Spring Fair was this past Saturday. In my mind, I keep hearing students singing "Make me a Believer," and I can't help but smile and feel full of happiness. I am living my dream come true. I am here, working side by side with the most incredible people I have ever met in my life --parents, teachers, an admin team,...

Spring is in the air!

Many of you may have noticed the colorful flowering murals hanging in our school hallways. The artwork, created by PS 84 students is more than just happiness to look at. It is part of deliberate planning toward making our school mission become reality.

The Lillian Weber School fosters a collaborative environment that encourages students to be lifelong learners through the development of arts, academic...

I look forward to having blogs where I can share my thoughts with this wonderful community.

So what's my first topic of choice? Well, with our upcoming student-led conferences, I wanted to spend a little time explaining the value of having children speak about their performance, success and goals.

Here are five reasons why student-led conferences are valuable:

  1. Student-led conferences empower students...
